英語オタク大学生がサカナクション「涙ディライト」の英訳に挑戦！

「シンシロ」の中で涙ディライトが一番好きかもしれないです。メロディはすごく軽いんですけど、歌詞が良い感じに悲しくて、でも総じて軽いという、すごくいい線をいっている曲。
あとに何より、Aメロの歌詞がとんでもなく良い。メロディにぴったり合ってて、それでいてそのままでもカッコいいという。
その辺も含めて、いってみましょう。
涙ディライト
夕日とライターの火を重ねて

それを知ってる僕らふわっと浮く言葉の影を鳥を見上げるように目で探す

解説
夕日とライターの火を重ねて
I see the fire of my lighter, placing my hand with it in front of the setting sun so that the fire overlaps the sunset
恐縮ですが、ここは意訳です。しっかし、めっちゃかさばってる。。。
AとBを重ねる がどうしても思い浮かびませんでした。pile, overlap, などはよく重なるの意味で使われるのですが、どうも今回の訳には合わないような気がしたので使いませんでした。
overlapを使うなら、おそらく「The fire of my lighter overlaps the sunset.」とかかな。。え、こっちの方がシンプルで分かりやすいか…？
ただ、これだと意図してやってる感がないんですよね。一郎さんがやってる感がない。
とにかく、読む人が想像して、似たような状況になる様な訳を心掛けました。

That は上で説明した動作です。
君は何か言いた気だけど
It seems that you want to say something
僕はまた歩き出す

それとない日々で今 夜に待ってる涙
Resulting from the days that were nothing special in particular, tears are waiting for me now at night
ここも長くなってしまいました。。「それとない日々が重なって、涙しなければいけない夜が来た」と解釈して、 Resulting from A, という表現を使いました。
それを知ってる僕ら宙に浮く言葉の節々を息を掴むように探すのさ
And we, who know that, look for the edges of the words in the air just like I catch them
なんですかね、、、別れ際の男女の、慎重な言葉選びが極限に達して緊迫している状況を描いているのかなと思ったのですが、、皆さんはどう思いますか。

涙が流れるは Tears stream でいいそう。streasmは「小川・～が流れる」とかの意味。

Go before the night passes me
薄暗い外灯のライトで引っ張った影踏んで
I step on my shadow that the dim street lights stretch
この歌詞、カッコ良すぎません？絵が鮮明に目に浮かびます。一郎さんの歌い方も相まって、えぐいかっこよい。 ちなみに、dimで「薄暗い」です。

淋しさは静かに 夜に鳴いてる涙

ここは直訳しました。「は」を is で、すこし荒業で訳しました。なので、「淋しさ＝涙」です。
それを知ってる僕らふわっと浮く言葉の影を鳥を見上げるように目で探す
We, who know that, look for the shadows of the words in the air as if we look at birds
なんですかね、、先ほどから打って変わって、放ったお互いの言葉の真の意味を知ろうとしてるってところでしょうか、、、。どなたか、教えてください～！

この、「me~ing」は、学校では教えてくれない文法だと思います。カジュアルなので口語ですが、例えば：
「ただ俺が攻めるより、お互いにした方がいいと思う()」は I think it's better to interact with each other more, rather than just me satisfying you///.です。
